What is in the catalog
The catalog contains descriptions of books for children and young adults which refer to the subject of the Holocaust. In each text, the Holocaust may be the main trope or appear in the background, or episodically. Sometimes, the Shoah is not mentioned explicitly. Although the Oczami dziecka project focuses on Polish literature published after the year 1989, the catalogue also includes books published before that date or translations into Polish of books originally published abroad.
Hot to use the catalog
Under the Authors tab, all books are listed according to their authors’ last names. By clicking the link, you can access a short bibliographic description and a summary of the plot. You can switch languages by clicking Polish or English at the top of the site.
The search bar is located to the right. You can type in any word, and the engine will search the contents of all catalogue entries.
Secondary sources
Under the Bibliography tab, you can find a list of academic texts devoted to the depictions of the Holocaust in children’s and youth literature, both Polish and international. In addition, a list of academic texts in which the given book is mentioned has been compiled under each catalogue entry.
What the catalog is missing
The website created by the Oczami dziecka project will be under construction until November 2020. If you find a literary or academic text missing from the catalogue or the bibliography, please do not hesitate to contact us (see tab Contact).
