He\u0144ka, as the narrator calls herself, introduced the reader to such historical figures as Queen Jadwiga (1374\u20131399), art collector Izabela Czartoryska (1746\u20131835), two-times Noble Prize winner Maria Sk\u0142odowska-Curie (1867\u20131934), painter Zofia Stryje\u0144ska (1891\u20131976), World War Two spy Krystyna Skarbek (1908\u20131952) or mountain climber Wanda Rutkiewicz (1943\u20131992). The narrator He\u0144ka is <i>porte parole<\/i> for the book\u2019s author, Anna Dziewit-Meller, who uses modern language to address her reader, emphasizing the emancipatory attitudes of her characters and encouraging her young female readers to reach the most daring of goals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One chapter is devoted to \u201cthe greatest heroes\u201d: <a href=\"https:\/\/sztetl.org.pl\/en\/biographies\/5930-wilczynska-stefania\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stefania Wilczy\u0144ska<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/sprawiedliwi.org.pl\/en\/o-sprawiedliwych\/irena-sendlerowa\/biografia-ireny-sendlerowej\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Irena Sendler<\/a>.
