Its chapters include key moments from the city\u2019s history, the profiles of prominent citizens (such as <a href=\"https:\/\/sprawiedliwi.org.pl\/en\/stories-of-rescue\/story-jan-karski\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jan Karski<\/a>), a tour of Piotrkowska Street and a tour of film studios, including the famous animation studio Se-ma-for, where the Polish animated children\u2019s series <i>Mi\u015b Uszatek <\/i>(Teddy Drop-Ear) was produced. The publication is mostly based on visual materials, including archival photographs which illustrate the changes the city underwent through decades.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The subject matter of Shoah appears episodically in the guidebook (including subchapters such as \u201cWork is Our Only Way,\u201d \u201cLife in the Ghetto,\u201d \u201cWhere the Ghetto Used to Be\u2026\u201d and \u201cThe End\u201d). The reader can learn that Germans burnt \u0141\u00f3d\u017a\u2019s synagogues in the autumn of 1939 and that one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sztetl.org.pl\/en\/towns\/l\/497-lodz\/116-sites-of-martyrdom\/48287-lodz-ghetto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">largest and longest-standing ghettoes in Europe was created in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a<\/a>\u2019s Old Town and Ba\u0142uty, the poorest parts of the city. The book includes a short poem by Abram Koplowicz, a Jewish boy who is mentioned along with Abram Cytryn as someone who pursued his talents despite the grueling conditions in the ghetto.
