There, she meets her cousin Alunia, who left her sister and two children in Radom. The women manage to organize work together in the hospital block. From this vantage point, they observe the subsequent tragic events at the camp. Thanks to Iza\u2019s help, Alunia survives two years at the camp. She finds solace in looking up at the stars which remind her of her children. Eventually, Alunia\u2019s children also arrive at the camp and are lodged in the same barrack. At one point, the narrator is transported to a different camp where she lives to see liberation by the Red Army. Alunia, her children and her sister also survive the war. After a difficult post-war period, the characters leave for Israel, where they finally meet again on accident after years of separation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This story, based on its author\u2019s experiences of concentration camp imprisonment, contains much information on the fates of Jews during the Second World War, including the life in a ghetto and in a concentration camp. At the end of the book, a one-page glossary can be found (\u201cghetto,\u201d \u201cNazi,\u201d concentration camp,\u201d \u201cRed Army\u201d).
